For the world cup finals in ninteen sixty six finals, held here in England, a total of eight differnet venues were used to play the matches.

In Birmingham, Villa park, the home of Aston Villa was used, in Liverpool, Goodison Park, the home of Everton, In London the now defunct White City and the scene of Englands greatest footballing achievement truimph in the final, Wembley were used.

In Manchester the home of Manchester United was used, Old Trafford, Middlesbrough, Hillsborough, the home of Sheffield Wednesday and finally Roker park, the old home ground of Sunderland.

Whilst the final was held at Wembley, in front of a crowd of over ninety three thousand, England also played all of there group matches at the famous old stadium.

Half of the grounds were used again, although more improved versions, for the last major footballing tournament to be held in England thirty years later for Euro ninety six.
