Here are the top 10 most expensive soccer players
- Wayne Rooney- As mentioned above, Everton received somewhere in the region of £27 million to release an 18 year old Wayne Rooney to Manchester United, a club he's had years of success with since.
- Anderson- Is another Manchester United player that came with a hefty price tag. He was bought from FC Porto for £18 million at the age of 19. Unlike Rooney, Anderson has struggled to live up to his transfer fee, and is often linked with a move away from Manchester.
- Phil Jones- Yet another Manchester United acquisition, this time leaving Blackburn Rovers at the age of 19 for £16.5 million. He is considered one of the brightest young English defensive around.
- Cristiano Ronaldo- £12 million pounds is what Cristiano Ronaldo cost Manchester United when they bought him from Sporting Lisbon at the age of 18. If you think £12 million is a lot of money to pay for a footballer, you'll be shocked to hear that Ronaldo was evetually sold to the Spanish side Real Madrid for a staggering £80 million. He is now considered one of the best football players in the world.
- Theo Walcott- The only non-Manchester United player to make the list, Walcott's transfer from Southampton to Arsenal cost the North London club £9 million for the 16 year old.
