It is highly unlikely that Ronaldo will rejoin Manchester United in the January transfer window. After the club's summer spending spree on some of the world's best attacking players, their recent results reflect the team's defensive frailties. The club will more than likely concentrate their efforts on signing a world class defender rather than another offensive player.
Cristiano Ronaldo is unlikely to make a return to Manchester United! Louis van Gaal has spent over £150m on summer signings, largely bolstering his defence! Despite have his former team-mate Angel di Maria at Old Trafford, Ronaldo is most likely using reported United interest to negotiate an even better deal at Real Madrid. The Portugal international is unlikely to leave the Champions League holders for a side who may not even be in Europe next season!
It's highly unlikely that Christiano Ronaldo will rejoin Manchester United at any point in his career, never mind next season. Although he's obviously fond of the club that saw him rise to stardom, there would be no point in him making a return. Here's why.
Difference in classSince joining Real Madrid, Ronaldo has hit heights that many thought possible during his time at Manchester United. Yes, he was a wonderful player at that time, but his statistics since leaving have shown that he's now playing on a completely different level.
In 196 games for Manchester United, Ronaldo score an impressive 84 goals. Since his move to Real Madrid, however, he's scored 197 goals in 176 games.
He certainly doesn't look like he's going to slow down any time soon either, so it's unlikely that Real Madrid would actually want him to leave.
Wages and fees
Although Manchester United are able to splash the cash from time to time, Real Madrid would want an extortionate fee for Ronaldo. Even if they were to sell him at a later date, Manchester United would have to consider how much he could offer them at that point. Let's not forget that he's 29 years old right now.
Ronaldo would also command huge wages that it's unlikely Manchester United could afford unless they suddenly hit the heights of the golden era under Ferguson again.
One more season out of the Champions League would make it difficult for Manchester United to financially compete with the wages of other clubs like Manchester City and Chelsea.
Ultimately, I think it's simply a dream that will never come true for Manchester United fans. I seriously doubt that he'll rejoin them in the next transfer window.
