The varsity coach at our school has taught us something called "filling your well".
You do this by closing your eyes and mentally shooting baskets in your mind.
It may sound stupid, but it improved my free-throw accuracy from 67% to 81%.
Also practice for real, but, shooting hoops mentally, you always make it so when you are out on the court, you already can see yourself making it because you have pictured it in your mind so many times.

Work on your stroke. Make sure when the ball rolls off of your fingers that your hand is lined up with the rim. There are two kinds of shots.Back board and net shots. If you work on your stroke and visualize the shot you'll be able sink more net shots...at least that works for me. I've tought a few people how to improve their shot and it seems to work....just practice

Every basketball player has his own shot and I suppose you do too. I can only give you the best answer that you probably don't want to hear, PRACTICE, PRACTICE, and then PRACTICE some more. There are also video's out there  that will teach you more about how your elbow should be when releasing the ball, but I have found that when I try to correct my shot or try something new I actually shoot worse then before. Find what you are most comfortable with and stick with it.
