I think it's great that you want to play hockey, it's such a cool sport! I love watching it, and wish I had got into playing when I was your age.
To get a good answer to your question, I would recommend reaching out to a local team and seeing if they have classes you can sign up for.

If there's nothing like that near you, then the local rink/venue is likely to have a website with that type of information on it instead.
As for equipment, I would expect that part of a beginners class would be to explain exactly which kit you'll need to purchase from the start.
