The name Real Madrid mean Royal Madrid in Spanish. Real Madrid is a very well known (globally) professional football club in Madrid, Spain. Real is also one of my favourite teams to watch!
Here's a bit more information on the "royal" history of the club:
Beginnings
The club was set up in 1902 and at first it was called Madrid Football Club. The strip was white, and it still is today.
Royal influence
King Alfonso XIII changed the name of the club in 1920 and also gave Real Madrid the royal crown that features in its emblem.
Home
For Real Madrid, home is the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium in Madrid. There is room for almost 90,000 people in the stadium.
Ownership
Real Madrid is special because it is owned by its members - most European football teams are owned by individuals and investors.
Wealthy
The Real Madrid Football Club has the highest revenue in the world. Turnover is over €604 million every year. It is the most valuable sports team in the world.
