No, Didier Drogba is not a medical doctor, although he is a fully qualified accountant, having studied accountancy at college in his youth. Didier Drogba has, however, helped doctors to save lives.

In 2005, Drogba's call for peace between the warring factions involved in the bitter, five year civil war in the Ivory Coast, Drogba's home nation, led to him becoming a goodwill ambassador for the United Nations Development Programme.
Leading on from this, he set up the Didier Drogba Foundation - its aim, to promote health, education and equality in the Ivory Coast.

Tough on The Pitch, Peaceful off The Pitch

Part of the foundation's achievements was in the building of a hospital in Abidjan, the largest city in the Ivory Coast, and Drogba's place of birth. The foundation has also built an orphanage and a Red Cross facility in the city. So, in this way, Didier Drogba has helped medical doctors to practice and save lives in his home country.

Didier has used a great deal of his own money to fund the project, including the proceeds from his official autobiography and his fee from his endorsement of Pepsi-Cola. In 2010, he also organised a charity ball to raise money for the foundation.

Here's Didier Drogba in an interview talking about the work of his foundation:
