Who Is Or Was The Best Sportsperson From Your Local Area?

The only one I can think of is the Hamm brothers of Olympic fame (Gymnastics).
Sorry I am not an avid sports fan.

Jimmy Johnston,He played football (soccer) for celtic & Scotland.In a nation wide poll he was Voted the best footballer ever to play for celtic,and we've had some greats.celtic was founded in1888,that shows just how good,no great he was.Sadly he died of cancer a few years back but he'll never be forgot.

I live in an area that has numerous sports teams and it would be like comparing apples to oranges to pears to attempt to pick one person from one team or sport.  We have professional baseball, football, golf, ice hockey and several minor league teams (feeder teams) as well.  Our football team gets lots of publicity (Cowboys - 3 times Super Bowl champs) and our ice hockey team (Stars)  has won the Stanley Cup so each of those teams have some talented people playing for them.  Our golfing personality that is very well known is Byron Nelson. How could you pick one that is superior over another??

I currently live in a very sports active area, and there are several famous sports personalities from here. The local Sports Hall of Fame has 35 people listed.

Quite frankly i don't care about sports people.so i don't know any or want to know them.

Thomas Jones Running Back   ...Powell Valley High School ...The University of Virginia...The Arizona Cardinals....Tampa Bay Buccaneers ...Chicago Bears...Currently New York Jets.....

Best sportsperson in what terms is it on the game then i would go for Leander Paes (Tennis player).
But the person i admire the most both on and off the field is steve waugh, he is a great human too.
