I would say that unless your basketball is very near it's bursting point now the extra few pounds of pressure difference will not hurt it.If you just want to err on the safe side,an exploding b-ball in the cargo hold could be unnerveing but not dangerous,let about half the air out.Should'nt be to hard to reinflate when you get to where you are going."
