A big facade ! Fancy and high dollar front with piles of slums behind it. Same thing I thought of it before the games.

I agree with Rooster, I'll never understand why countries and/or cities will spend all this money to build venues specifically for the Olympics, when people in their countries and/or cities are obviously living in such poverty. This happens not only in Brazil, but everywhere the Olympics are held.....disgusting actually.

Since Angela and Rooster think it's bad to throw these sports due people's financial issues. I would express my feelings as Brazil got the luck.

Throwing these kind of big events means huge load of money and boost to the economy to the host country. You spend and you'll earn the double. (how government use it is some other matter) but it's  all benefit.

Due the quality labels.

-Transportation must be improved

-Cities must be rebuild, improved and reconstructed

-Safety must be improved

-Hotels must be improved

-Airport systems must be improved

-Streets and cities comes cleaner, improved with higher quality

And many more to name i just naming very randomly tho.

All these are for Brazilian use as well.

Beside all these. Each country who host Olympic or FIFA World Cup earns millions of cash due what millions of people spend on their country through many reasons.

Shopping, residence, purchase of tickets, purchase of merchandises, spends on transportation, and many more.

For any country being such host is a victory.

A lot of structures from past Olympics are sitting vacant and abandoned now simply because they are just unsuitable for any other use.  I understand the Olympic Committee (whatever it is called) will in their future consider how well the proposed Host city plans to "re-purpose" the facilities they propose to build specifically for the Games, and will also take into consideration how existing facilities are used in place of building new ones.

olympicThere has been some negative press and some positive press on Rio before during and after the Olympics. I don’t think my impressions have changed any. You have to take the good with the bad, and that is everywhere. The games were very nice, only a few glitches which are to be expected. Some could have been avoided, but that happens at any global event. You can never be too prepared. Just like Philadelphia when the Pope visited last year. We wanted to be super prepared. There were some glitches, but the event went smoothly.
