Great answer! sometimes i get angry about people's misconceptions! the fact that "Soccer" is a total British based word. and British are the ones who discovered football from the first place!

I think Americans probably call "American football" football; rugby would be rugby.

We did the same thing in Oz until just a few years ago. Rugby League was "football", Rugby Union was "Rugby" and Football was "Soccer". We've got ourselves aligned with the rest of the planet now.
