Yes, it's true, Rafael Nadal has never broken a tennis racket.
I did a bit of research into this, and it seems that while almost every major player out there has lost their temper in moment of intensity and broken their tennis racket, the same can't be said of Nadal.
Why has Nadal never broken a racket?
The answer lies in the way he was brought up and coached: "he respects the people who have to buy his equipment too much" said Nadal's uncle in an interview.
In fact, Nadal takes this point so seriously that, when playing with a friend who decided to smash his racket as a joke, he told him that if he ever did that again they couldn't play together anymore.
But more than respect for the game, I think Nadal's ability to keep his composure and not take his frustration out on the racket shows a side of his game that people don't often remark on.
He's like a surgeon in theater when he plays, completely focused and devoid of any ego and emotion.
